While we have a great assortment of CCTV cameras for your surveillance equipment needs, we feel that we can improve by constantly updating the inventory and in keeping with the latest technology in the security equipment industry and offering them at prices that are competitive in the online market. Please feel free to give us a call if you need assistance with selecting the right surveillance equipment for the job at hand.

Things to consider when selecting a CCTV camera as a surveillance equipment:
1) Where is the camera going to be used? How much light are we dealing with? With this information, one can decide on the lux rating of a camera. This is only an issue to consider if you are dealing with low to almost no light. For very low light (but visible), we recommend anywhere from 0.01 to 0.2 lux. For situations where it is slightly visible (such as some night clubs) and no visibility, it is very important to consider the use of Infra Red CCTV Cameras.

2) How much of an angle are we intending to view through the camera lens? There also has to be a compromise between the angle desired and the distance desired. These are approximations of focal length of lens and angle size in degrees:
* 2.5 mm --> 90 degrees * 2.8 mm --> 80 deg. * 3.6 mm --> 65 deg.
* 4.0 mm --> 58 deg. * 5.0 mm --> 45 deg. * 6.0 mm --> 20 deg.
* 8.0 mm --> 15 deg. * 12.0 mm --> 9 deg.

For most purposes, we found a 4.0 mm lens to be very adequate in building a surveillance equipment package.
These angles represent the horizontal angle (left to right). The vertical angle (top to bottom) is approximately 20% less. A 2.5 mm lens is considered to be a wide-angle lens and is not suitable for viewing long distance. A 12.0 mm lens is considered to be a telephoto lens (for shooting distant objects) and is not suitable in a small room where a wide angle is required.
3) How much resolution do I need? For resolution, we need to take into effect the size of the chip (1/4", 1/3", 1/2".....), the number of lines and the total number of pixels (points on a color screen that make up an image. For most residential and small retail applications, consider using 270,000 pixels (270 lines, 1/4") or better. For larger retail stores and warehouses, use no less than 410,000 pixels (480 lines , 1/3").

What ever you choose, make sure the matching DVR is capable of recording on the chosen level of quality!!!
Good luck with your surveillance equipment
